Snow blankets Northwestern Wisconsin

Lake Nebagamon was hit with 18 inches of snow.

DULUTH — Most of the Northland saw less than 6 inches of snow from Tuesday night into Wednesday afternoon, but some areas in Northwestern Wisconsin received over a foot of snow.

Lake Nebagamon saw 18 inches, followed by 15 inches in Blueberry, also in Douglas County, as well as 3 miles south of Cornucopia, Bayfield County, according to the National Weather Service.

Radar showed the snowstorm mostly affected sections of the North Shore and Northwestern Wisconsin.

The snow will continue across the Northland on Wednesday morning, but will gradually move out of the area Wednesday afternoon.

Lake-effect snow will continue for areas of Northwestern Wisconsin on Wednesday night through Thursday evening, the National Weather Service reported.

Travel could be difficult for travelers with slick road conditions and near whiteout conditions in parts of Northwestern Wisconsin through later Wednesday morning.
