First big snow of winter hits Carlton County

Cloquet and Esko schools as well as Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College were among schools that closed Wednesday, Nov. 27, due to major snowfall.

The snow was expected to taper off by noon Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in Duluth.

The NWS reported Cloquet had 7.5 inches of snow at 9:12 a.m. Wednesday.

A trained spotter in Mahtowa reported 8.9 inches of snow at 7 a.m.
