Seconds after Isaac Wolfgram shut the basement door, a tornado tore the roof off of their Racine, Minnesota, home in an unprecedented severe weather outbreak in December 2021.
One of the mightiest storms to hit the U.S. mainland in recent years, Ian flooded communities before plowing across the peninsula to the Atlantic seaboard. Local power companies said more than 2.5 million homes and businesses in Florida remained without power.
With winds estimated as high as 120 mph, the Forada neighborhood located closest to Maple Lake took the brunt of the damage from the EF-2 tornado on May 30.
The April 12 EF2 tornado leveled or severely damaged nearly every structure in town, resulting in about $1.5 million in damage.
Some counties are already considered to be in a "drought.
With the potential for more heavy rain Friday night, the mayor said emergency personnel were in the process of recommending others in the city to consider leaving their at-risk homes. The sheriff’s office also advised those who’ve left their homes to avoid returning to them until it is safe to do so, and the public was also asked to stay away from the Randall area so emergency personnel could do their jobs effectively.

A woman, who was also in the camper, was taken to the hospital.
With the full extent of damage still unknown, Sholly said it’s unclear when the park may reopen.
