Wilderness finish NAHL Showcase with overtime win
Grand Rapids' Ren Morque assisted on the game-winner.
BLAINE, Minn. — Joe Cesario made sure that the Minnesota Wilderness finished the North American Hockey League Showcase on a positive note, scoring the game-winner 1:17 into overtime in a 2-1 win over the Bismarck Bobcats on Saturday, Sept. 17.
Cesario scored his fourth goal of the season, assisted by Ren Morque (Grand Rapids) to give Minnesota a 2-1-1 record in the Showcase and a 2-3-1 record on the young campaign.
After they killed off four of five consecutive minor penalties over the first two periods, Minnesota evened the game early in the third period on a goal from Adam Johnson.
Isak Posch was the winning goaltender, making 26 saves for Minnesota. The Wilderness are idle next weekend and back in action at home on Sept. 30 for the first of three games against Anchorage.
