Returning state qualifiers:

  • Boys: Gage Stankiewicz, Dylan Edland

First meet: April 13 at home.

Team strengths: "Gage Stankiewicz returns after participating in the discus at the state meet as a Sophomore," boys coach Gary Beaudot said. "Dylan Edland also participated in the state 4x200 race as a sophomore and should be a strong hurdler and sprinter for the Esko team. We're hoping to put together some strong relays as well as having nice depth in our field events."

Biggest challenge: "We have many athletes that will be learning events," Beaudot said.

Coach's assessment

"We're trying to make it a fun, hard-working atmosphere," girls coach Matt Peterson said. "That's our whole goal for the program and I think it's really worked out. These kids have been stuck in quarantine and distance learning and now we're all coming together and the boys and girls are getting a chance to just be kids. If we can develop that hardworking atmosphere we'll do well."
