Thunder football players earn player of the week honors

Two Thunder Football athletes earned Minnesota College Athletic Conference Northern Division Player of the Week Honors for their performances in the Thunder's 25-0 victory over Minnesota West Community and Technical College on September 12.

Two Thunder Football athletes earned Minnesota College Athletic Conference Northern Division Player of the Week Honors for their performances in the Thunder's 25-0 victory over Minnesota West Community and Technical College on September 12.

Quarterback Rumeal Carlton, a 5' 10", 150-pound freshman from Fort Meade, Florida, was named Offensive Player of the Week in the MCAC Northern Division. Carlton completed 7 of 13 passes for 200 yards and threw two touchdown passes in leading the Thunder to their first win of the season at home over Minnesota West Community and Technical College of Worthington, Minnesota.

Linebacker Darian McGee, a 5' 11", 225-pound sophomore from Dallas, Texas, was named Defensive Player of the Week in the MCAC Northern Division. McGee led the Thunder to their first shutout in team history with ten tackles and a blocked punt that he also recovered for a touchdown.

Previously, running back March Jones, a 5' 8", 205-pound sophomore from Montgomery, Alabama, was named Offensive Player of the Week in the MCAC Northern Division for his game performance in a 36-21 loss to Minnesota State Community College-Fergus Falls during the second week games of the season held on September 5.

The next game for the Thunder (1-2) is Saturday, September 19, against Minnesota College Athletic Conference Southern Division leader Rochester Technical and Community College (3-0). Rochester is the top-ranked team in the MCAC poll released on September 14. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association.
