Registration open for summer races in Carlton County

After most running events were canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sawdust 5K in Cloquet and the Kaleb Anderson Memorial 5K in Cromwell are back this year.

Cloquet welcomes back Sawdust

The 10th annual Sawdust 5K Run/Walk is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. July 4 in Pinehurst Park in Cloquet.

The route travels through west Cloquet neighborhoods and the Pinehurst Park area. Awards are given to the top three male and female winners in each age division and all finishers will receive a technical T-shirt.

Registration is available at and the cost is $30 for the 5K race and $10 for the Lavonna Prevost 1 Miler.

Proceeds from the race will go to the Cloquet Fourth of July celebration and the Cloquet High School Activities program.

‘Glow run’ scheduled in Cromwell

Registration is open for the 10th annual Kaleb Anderson Memorial Fun Run/Walk, scheduled for 7 p.m. July 3 at Kaleb Anderson Memorial Playground in Cromwell.

This year, the organizers are making the race a “glow run,” with racers encouraged to wear neon-colored outfits. In addition, glow sticks and other neon items will be available to wear during the event.

The race will begin at 8:45 p.m. Memorial lanterns will be available for purchase and will be sent up after the race. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display.

Registration is available at the Kaleb Anderson Memorial Playground Facebook page . The cost is $25 for a short-sleeved T-shirt and $35 for a long-sleeved T-shirt. The cost for children under age 10 is $15; long-sleeved shirts are not available in children’s sizes.
