Conservation Officer Scott Staples (Carlton) attended a Fur Committee meeting and worked on training with K9 Schody. A fair amount of snowmobile activity in the area was worked and enforcement action was taken for registration and speeding violations. Extra time was spent patrolling complaint areas where trespassing has been a problem.

CO Jacob Willis (Brookston) attended training in McGregor with law enforcement and EMS agencies from around the region. Willis also continued to follow up on ongoing cases. Despite the cold weather, slush remains an issue on area water bodies.

CO Andy Schmidt (Duluth West) worked trails and lakes for snowmobile enforcement. Registration continues to be a common violation, along with safety certificate requirements.

Anglers are suffering through the slush and ATV/snowmobile use is complicated with the deep snow/slush. Anglers able to get out are reporting a slow bite.

Dustie Speldrich (Willow River) checked anglers coming off of local lakes. A few perch and walleyes were seen. She patrolled snowmobile trails and answered questions regarding collector snowmobile registration.

Speldrich continued to work on a background investigation for a potential new hire.
