Stu Nelson and Rich Brummer of Cloquet set a stout record for the most ever raised by a team during the Fleet Farm Minnesota Fishing Challenge on the Gull Lake chain of lakes near Brainerd.

Leading up to this 10th annual event June 2, the 320 anglers raised more than $302,000 to support Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs statewide.

Nelson and Brummer are passionate about restoring lives of those addicted to drugs and alcohol, a news release stated, and their hard work brought in more than $132,000.

"We want to thank everyone, all our sponsors, for their support," Brummer said. "Every dollar is going to life-saving programs, giving hope and freedom from addictions and dependencies."

In all, 59 of the teams raised at least $500 to support Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge.

Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge offers extremely high long-term success rate for addiction recovery. The money raised in this event allows the program to accept addicts regardless of their ability to pay.
