Lake Superior All-Conference Teams

The following Cloquet athletes have been selected to Lake Superior All-Conference teams for 2017-18.

Track and field

Two athletes are selected for each individual event and one team is selected for each relay event.


100-meter dash — Aahsan Maigag, senior.

400-meter dash — Blaine Bong, junior.

800-meter run — Blaine Bong.

300-meter hurdles — Alex Leuzzo, junior.

Pole vault — Eli Benson, junior.

Triple jump — Alex Leuzzo; Riley Leslie, junior.

Shot put — Dylan Lauer, senior.

Discus throw — Dylan Lauer.


100-meter dash — Kendra Kelley, junior; Katelyn Kelley, freshman.

200-meter dash — Kendra Kelley; Katelyn Kelley.

400-meter dash — Kendra Kelley.

100-meter hurdles — Kelly Lorenz, junior.

300-meter hurdles — Kelly Lorenz.

Pole vault — Payton Schneberger, junior.

Long jump — Kendra Kelly.

Shot put — Makayla Suominen, junior; Maddie Dostal, sophomore.

Discus throw — Makayla Suominen; Payton Anderson, junior.

4x200-meter relay — Erin Turner, senior; Natalie Spath, junior; Sydney Wick, sophomore; and Katelyn Kelley.


Six athletes were selected for first team and second team each. The girls did not have a second team; no Cloquet athletes were selected for girls first team.

First team — Keegan Poppenberg, junior; Sam Baker, freshman.

Second team — Matt Radovich, senior; Trevor Steinart, freshman.

Boys tennis

Four athletes were selected for singles; eight were chosen for doubles.

Singles — Peter Tomhave, junior.

Doubles — Kade Bender, junior; Ryan Fredrickson, senior.


Nine athletes were chosen for first team and second team each; five were named honorable mention.

First team — Lucy Sinkkonen, sophomore; Dana Jones, eighth grade.

Second team — Ally Martin, senior.

Honorable mention — Brenna McClarey; Shelby Peil.

Katie Rohman

Katie Rohman is regional editor of the Pine Journal, the Lake County News-Chronicle and the Superior Telegram. She joined Forum Communications Company in October 2017. Rohman previously served as managing editor of two newspapers in Blair, Neb., and five newspapers in the Niles, Mich., area. She also worked at newspapers in Park Rapids and Austin, Minn., and Mayville, N.D. The South Dakota native has a bachelor's degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead.
