Goaltender Sam Livecchi made 33 saves, then stopped five of six shootout attempts as the Minnesota Wilderness defeated the Chippewa Steel 3-2 in North American Hockey League play on Thursday in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.

The Wilderness and Steel exchanged goals just eight seconds apart in the first period, then went to the third tied at 1 when Barak Braslavski put Chippewa ahead 1:22 into the third frame. Ethan Wolthers' seventh goal of the season tied it with five minutes to play and that's how the teams stayed through the end of the extra session.

Both teams scored in the third round, and in the sixth, Barrett Hall lit the lamp for Minnesota, while Braslavski was stymied.

Cole Crusberg-Roseen had the other goal for Minnesota (12-7-1-0), which meets the Steel again on Saturday, this time at Northwoods Credit Union Arena in Cloquet.
