The Minnesota Wilderness scored first but couldn't build on their early lead, losing 4-1 to the Johnstown Tomahawks on day three of the North American Hockey League Showcase on Friday in Blaine, Minnesota.

Riku Brown gave Minnesota the lead with his goal at 15:57 of the first, but Johnstown tied it less than two minutes later, then took the lead on a power-play goal from Jake Black in the second period. Johnstown added an insurance goal early in the third and an empty-netter late.

Minnesota had a 35-30 shots on goal advantage, including 18-6 in the third period, but went 0-for-7 on the power play.

Sam Livecchi made 26 saves for Minnesota (0-3), which plays Lone Star on Saturday to complete the season-opening event.
