The Minnesota Wilderness split two games to open the season against the Minot Minotauros Friday and Saturday in North Dakota.

Minot won the opener 4-2 on Friday before the Wilderness took the finale 5-4 in overtime Saturday on Dominkis Marcincevics' game-winning goal.

Saturday, Dane Stoyanoff (Esko) gave Minnesota a 4-3 lead with 4:45 to play but Minot's Damon Zimmer scored his second goal of the game and third of the series with :36 to play to force OT.

Atticus Kelly made 21 saves for the Wilderness.

On Friday, goals from Mitchell Allard and Christian Galatz (Cloquet) got the Wilderness out of an early 2-0 hole, but Minot regained the lead late in the second period and added an empty-netter late.

Kaleb Johnson made 26 saves for Minnesota.

The Wilderness (1-1-0-0) are idle next weekend before a home opener Oct. 31 vs. St. Cloud.
