It took a while, but Esko got the win.
In a Polar League contest that took nearly two hours to play five innings on a harsh April day, the Eskomos out-slugged the visiting Cardinals 20-9 Tuesday afternoon in Esko.
Cromwell-Wright - which nearly upset Esko a year ago in a 9-8 defeat - led early on Tuesday, until the Eskomos cracked things open with their bats.
Leading Esko in the circle was freshman pitcher Abbey Saralampi, who allowed just five hits in five innings of work. Junior Steph Miller also ripped a double for the Eskomos in their first win this spring.
Cromwell-Wright was paced by eighth-grade pitcher Kaylan Risacher, who took the loss. She only gave up six hits and hit a home run offensively.
