Cloquet’s Harmony Tracy turned in a blistering time of 19 minutes, 43 seconds to win the meet at Pine Valley Recreation Area Thursday, Sept. 10.

Tracy was more than 2 minutes ahead of her closest competition in the girls’ race and finished with a better time than all but nine of the 24 runners in the boys’ race.

The meet, more subdued than many cross-country events, featured just three teams and 44 varsity runners between the boys and girls. Minnesota State High School League restricts meets to a maximum of three teams at a meet because of concerns about the spread of coronavirus.

What’s more, instead of cheering on their teammates like the would at a normal meet, runners had to immediately exit the finishing area to maintain social distancing. In addition, junior varsity runners were forced to stay in their designated team areas instead of watching along the course.
