USA Nordic announced Tuesday, April 27, that Cloquet siblings Aidan and Charlotte Ripp were nominated to the junior national Nordic combined team.

Aidan Ripp, 20, a 2019 graduate of Cloquet High School, was selected to train and compete with the USA Nordic combined team for the 2019-20 season. He represented the U.S. at the 2020 Junior World Ski Championships in Oberwiesenthal, Germany, where the U.S. finished 13th in the team event.

Charlotte Ripp, 16, a sophomore at Cloquet, trains with the Cloquet Ski Club. She has also skied with the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Nordic ski team.

“Our team nominations include a wide range of veterans across our national teams, but some great up-and-coming athletes on the junior teams,” USA Nordic Sport Director Jed Hinkley said in a press release. “It was especially challenging this year with ever-changing schedule changes and cancellations."

Athletes will have the option of accepting nominations prior to the 2021-22 season and final teams for the season will be named in the fall. With the Winter Olympics less than a year away in Beijing, athletes will be striving to earn positions on Team USA. Those nominations and team naming will be announced just prior to the Olympics.
