Cromwell-Wright’s Micah Pocernich announced his intention to continue playing basketball next season at the University of Northwestern in St. Paul.
Pocernich was among the area leaders in scoring during the 2019-20 season, averaging 25 points per game and shooting 40% from 3-point range as a senior. He also led the Cardinals in scoring with 19.7 points per game as a junior.
He became the Cardinals' all-time leading scorer on Jan. 3, 2020.
In 2019, Pocernich scored 37 points in Cromwell-Wright’s 65-52 win in the Section 5A championship over Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, clinching the Cardinals first trip to the Minnesota Class A State Tournament for the first time since 1996.
