Boys basketball preview: Cloquet Lumberjacks

Cloquet returns 4 starters, but size could be issue; first game at home Saturday, Nov. 30, against Barnum

Head coach: Steve Battaglia

Team strengths: “Athleticism and hopefully a deeper than normal rotation,” head coach Steve Battaglia said. “I think we can shoot it, but that remains to be proven.”

Biggest challenge: Size.

Coach’s Assessment: “We’ve got a great group of kids who are fun to be around,” Battaglia said. “I think we have the talent and athleticism to beat a lot of people, but I worry about consistency without a big guy to anchor things. We’re going to have to shoot the ball well, defend every night and try to play faster than I normally prefer. Our strength both offensively and defensively should be in transition and in the full court — half-court offense and defense favors bigger teams.”
