The Big Lake Gun Club has been in existence for over 40 years. After leasing land for many years, the club had the opportunity to purchase it from the owners of Big Lake Golf. As this was happening, a rumor was circulating that the Big Lake Gun Club was closed. They are not. They are still an active club with members from many area communities.
The club will sponsor a "Summer Fun Shoot" on Sunday, Aug. 2. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. with competition starting at 11 a.m. Food will be available.
Participants will shoot 50 clay birds from 16 yards, 50 birds from handicap yardage, and 30 doubles. There will be four classes for each event, and first and second places will be recognized, as well as high overall (A and B combined, C and D combined).
The Big Lake Gun Club is located approximately 12 miles west of Cloquet on County Road 7 (Big Lake Road), directly behind Big Lake Golf Course.
