Auto racing: Ammerman uses late pass to take checkered flag in Proctor

Mora driver takes 20-lap Hornet Nationals at Halvor Lines Speedway.

PROCTOR, Minn. — Marcus Ammerman of Mora, Minnesota, got by Two Harbors’ Tyler Schramm and nipped him at the line to win the 20-lap Hornet Nationals feature Sunday, July 24, at Halvor Lines Speedway.

Derek Ament, Hunter McDougall and Paul George rounded out the top five. A strong field of 22 Hornets were on hand for the special event.

Duluth’s Jody Bellefeuille (Late Models) and Cory Jorgensen (Pure Stocks) earned clean sweeps by winning both their features and heats in their respective divisions.

Brule’s Brandon Copp (Modifieds) and Superior’s Cody Carlson (Midwest Modifieds) were Sunday’s other feature winners.

Super Stocks had the night off at the track as FastLane Motorsports Northland Super Stock Series was at Granite City Motor Park in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota.
