Joey Pierce and Cole Antcliff scored third-period goals as second-ranked Hermantown rallied to tie Cretin Derham-Hall 5-5 in a boys hockey nonconference game Saturday at Hermantown.

The Hawks (9-1-4) led 3-1 after one period before the Raiders scored four consecutive goals.

Pierce, on a power play, and Antcliff, at 9:22 of the third, gave the Hawks their third tie in a row.

John Sutherland scored 22 points to lead the Thunderhawks to the victory in the opening game of the Lake Superior Classic at Duluth East High School.


Kramer wins Marshall Sprints

Duluth East’s Clara Kramer and Ely’s Jasper Johnston were the individual winners at the Marshall Freestyle Sprints.

Kramer was timed in 19 minutes, 51.5 seconds for the 7.2-kilometer course, while Johnston crossed the finish line in 18:45.1.
