Kourtney Manning hit a late two-pointer to tie the game, then hit a game-winning foul shot in the closing seconds as Hibbing edged Grand Rapids 54-53 on Tuesday night in Grand Rapids.

Grand Rapids’ Mya Roberts put the Thunderhawks up two, 53-51, but Manning hit the game-tying shot moments later. After Hibbing took the lead, Grand Rapids’ Taryn Hamling put up a 3-point shot that missed the mark.

Hibbing’s Haley Hawkinson scored a team-high 17 points and Manning finished with 14. Hamling scored 31 points and Roberts scored nine.

Duluth Marshall 71, Bigfork 24

Marshall’s Gianna Kneepkens scored 30 points and Grace Kirk had 18 in a win over Bigfork on Monday.

Bigfork’s Natalie Haley scored 14 points.


Cloquet 88, Ashland 79

Markus Pokornowski and Adam Schneider both topped 30 points in Cloquet’s win over Ashland on Tuesday.

Pokornowski scored 39 points and Schneider wrapped up with a 33-point night. Ashland’s Kevan Powell led the Oredockers with 27 points.

Hibbing 91, Duluth Denfeld 64

It was a big scoring night all around as Hibbing defeated Duluth Denfeld on Tuesday.

Hibbing’s Ayden McDonald scored a team-high 30 points, Mayson Brown scored 24 points and Tre Holmes finished with 22. The trio combined to make 15 3-pointers.

Denfeld’s Josh Reinertsen hit five 3-pointers and finished with 31 points and Armon Freeman scored 19.

Fond du Lac 95,

Mountain Iron-Buhl 81

Both teams fired away, with Fond du Lac claiming the high-scoring victory on Tuesday.

Fond du Lac’s Conner Barney scored 41 points, Jalen Paulson scored 20 and Jordan Brown hit five 3-pointers and scored 19 points.

Mountain Iron-Buhl’s Asher Zubich scored a game-high 43 points — 15 coming on 3-pointers — and Nikolas Jesch scored 16 points.


Hermantown 2, Grand Rapids 2, OT

Grand Rapids rallied from two goals down in the third period and the Thunderhawks and Hawks finished in an overtime tie on Tuesday.

After a scoreless first period, Hermantown’s Zach Carlson and Aydyn Dowd scored second period goals. But Grand Rapids’ Maccrea Murphy scored at 8:41 of the third and Hunter Bischoff’s goal at 13:06 tied the game. Grand Rapids goalie Carter Clafton made 36 saves and Jacob Backstrom turned away 23 shots.

Virginia/MIB 3, International Falls 3, OT

Dillon Drake scored two unassisted goals, the second at 8:41 of the third period to tie the game, and Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl and International Falls skated to an overtime tie on Tuesday.

The teams traded four first-period goals but neither scored in the second. International Falls’ Jaxon Germain scored at 33 seconds of the third and Drake knotted the game about eight minutes later and the teams played a scoreless OT.


Proctor/Hermantown 4, Moose Lake 0

Alyssa Watkins scored two goals and goalie Abby Pajari sent back 20 shots as Proctor/Hermantown blanked Moose Lake on Tuesday.

Michaela Phinney and Hailey Winklesky scored P/H’s other goals, all four of which came in the opening period.
