The Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girls' hockey team fell one game short of the section final after falling 1-0 to Duluth Marshall on Monday, Feb. 11.

Lillian Johnson's second-period goal was the only marker of the night, but it was enough to doom CEC (17-7-0).

Elise Lund stopped 24 of 25 shots in goal for the Lumberjacks, who won their first playoff game since 2012 in the previous round when they stopped Eveleth-Gilbert 5-0 the previous night in Cloquet. Kiana Bender scored two goals for CEC, which got single goals from Jaxie Pogorelc, Taylor Nelson and Dana Jones in the win. CEC outshot the Golden Bears 31-8 with Lund earning the shutout.

For the season, Nelson paced the team with 31 goals and 54 points, while Lund posted a 1.70 goals-against average with six shutouts.
