CLOQUET SCHOOLS

The Cloquet School Board approved a construction manager and a bidding process for the proposed $4.5 million renovation project at its meeting Monday, Nov. 28. Officials also laid out tentative plans to pay for the costs of the project.
A special ceremony was held inside the Churchill Elementary School gymnasium to celebrate its National Blue Ribbon Award for excellence in closing the achievement gap.

The approximately $4.5 million athletic facilities project includes the installation of artificial turf, along with renovations and expansions of the track space and tennis courts.
Dave Perry was one four teachers statewide to receive the award, and one of only two from Northern Minnesota.
"Our after school enrichment program has a variety of activities including arts/crafts, gym games, STEM and BINGO. Children get a snack before the activity to keep the hungries away, then the fun begins!" writes Erin Bates.

Four of the five candidates for the Cloquet School Board took part in a candidate forum hosted by the Cloquet Area Chamber of Commerce.
Dustin Opatz of BerganKDV presented the audit findings to the board prior to the vote.
"I’m running for school board because we need change. We need members of the school board making decisions first and foremost for our students, then our staff," Jamie Graham writes.
