HERMANTOWN — Cloquet's Quinn Danielson scored a career-high 20 points in the Lumberjacks' 57-49 win on Thursday.

The 5-foot sophomore hit two timely 3-pointers during a 9-2 run that cut Hermantown’s lead to 28-26 at the break. She hit two more from long range in the second half during another 9-2 run in the second half and hit a pair of free throws to clinch the game for the Lumberjacks.

“She just salivates to get on that floor,” Cloquet coach Heather Young said. “When she gets on the floor, she’s going to make every opportunity a positive one as much as she can. We know teams are going to exploit her height…but she is smart enough to know how to counteract that.”

Young said while Danielson’s play was key, senior Caley Kruse’s defense was just as important as Danielson’s points.

“She had a phenomenal game for us,” Young said. “It may not have been so much on the points, but it was more the defensive rebounding and being strong with the ball.”
