Much of the county has experienced power outages this weekend as the region was hit by wind gusts of up to 74 mph. Conditions began to improve going into Christmas Day.

According to a report from the University of Minnesota, 2020 Northland birth and pregnancy rates stayed largely similar to 2019, but are low compared to years past. In most Northland counties, fewer teenage pregnancies and births were recorded in 2020 than in 2019.
Two COVID-19-related deaths were recorded: one in St. Louis County and one in Aitkin County.

Both deaths were St. Louis County residents.
The 10-county region had two COVID-19-related deaths in the past seven days.
The Northland recorded 228 new cases and eight COVID-related deaths March 18-24.
The Northland recorded 426 new cases and five COVID-related deaths March 11-17.
The Northland recorded 378 new cases and nine COVID-related deaths March 4-10.
The Northland recorded 544 new cases and 11 COVID-related deaths Feb. 25-March 3.

The Northland recorded 1,121 new COVID-19 cases Feb. 18-24.
On Feb. 23, the Minnesota Department of Health and Wisconsin Department of Health Services recorded 316 new cases of COVID-19 in the Northland and three COVID-related deaths.
Cases continue to decline in the Northland, with 1,531 new cases reported Feb. 11-17.
