Rozzie (Dahlman) Obando's husband, Fabio Obando, was granted his United States citizenship at a ceremony Thursday, March 2, in St. Paul. Fabio and Rozzie have been married since 2004 and he has been working on getting citizenship for a long time. We can now officially welcome this hard working Costa Rican to our country and to our family.
The fourth-graders at the school are heading up a Food Drive for the Annual March FoodShare Drive in Minnesota. Donations of non-perishable food items and money will be collected now until Wednesday, March 29. All donations stay in our community to help our friends and neighbors. Donations can be brought to any elementary classroom or high school advisor. Donations can be designated to a particular classroom as they are having a contest to see which grade can collect the most items.
There's a new group getting organized in Cromwell. The Women of Bethany Lutheran in Cromwell are planning a F.U.N. (Females Unite Now) Luncheon from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 8. A simple but exquisite lunch will be served and then former Pastor Janeva Stromberg share an uplifting and positive presentation. Future monthly gatherings will happen just for you and for F.U.N. Plan accordingly, as no babysitting services will be available.
Throughout March and April, the artwork of Christie Carter Eliason, second-grade teacher at Cromwell-Wright, will be on display at the Red Mug Coffeehouse in Superior, Wis. The opening reception will be from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 11.
Youth ATV Safety Training Classes will be held April 29 at the Moose Lake Depot, May 6 at the Tamarack Sno-Flyers Building and May 27 at the Long Lake Conservation Center in Palisade. All Lenten mid-week services at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wright will take place at 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays through April 5, as well as at 5:30 p.m. Maundy Thursday, April 13, and Good Friday, April 14. Easter Service will be at 10:30 a.m. April 16.
Lenten Services will continue at the Lutheran/Methodists churches as they meet together at 6 p.m. for soup suppers on Wednesdays in March: the 15th at Methodist, 22nd at Bethany, 29th at Bethlehem and April 5th at the Methodist church.
The next Cromwell Area Community Club (CACC) meeting will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at Cardinal Court. All members are encouraged to attend and new folks are always welcome. Dues are $10 a year. Come and check out the new gazebo plans for the park next to Northland Bank.
The next Cromwell Area Young Old Timers will meet at noon Tuesday, March 14, at the Cromwell Park Pavilion. New members and visitors are always encouraged to attend. The YOT meets for a meal, program and short business meeting. As of today, they have 34 paid-up members.

The Cromwell-Wright Dollars for Scholars' fourth annual fundraiser dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at the Cromwell pavilion, featuring pork tenderloin and all the fixings. Adults are $15 and students 10 and under are $7. Tickets available at school office, from participating high school students and chapter members. Lake Country Power's annual meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 19, at the Reif Center in Grand Rapids. Registration begins at 4:45 p.m. with dinner and entertainment. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Districts 3, 6 and 7 are up for election to serve three-year terms. These seats are currently held by George Harvey, Don Simons and Craig Olson. A special election is being held in District 1, since Dale Long's passing. The election for the District 1 seat will be held in conjunction with LCP's 2017 election process, which is already underway. Go to the LCP website for more information.
Don't forget to patronize our local businesses in Cromwell and Wright. We are very fortunate to have two restaurants, a co-op store, gas station and convenience store, a bank, a lumber yard, two bars, two or three hair care salons, several car repair businesses, two post offices, two peat plants, a medical clinic, physical therapy, trapping school and nuisance animal control business, the Area Clothing Depot, re-claimed freight at the old co-op store site in Cromwell, septic plumbing and toilet rental, and several independent gravel operators, loggers, truckers, plumbers, electricians, carpenters and builders.
