The Wright Post Office will celebrate its 125th anniversary. It was established March 16, 1892. If you get some letters in the mail on Thursday you will get the cancellation on the envelope of the 125th anniversary date. FYI: The city of Wright was named for George Burdick Wright, a land agent. The population was 127 at the 2010 census.
Congratulations to the Cromwell-Wright girls basketball team: Section 5A champions! There will be no school Thursday and Friday, March 16-17, due to the team’s attendance at the state tournament. Good luck, team. We are very proud of you all!
Congratulations to our high school music program. The band received three “Superior” ratings for their performance of “Earth Song and Adventure.” Also receiving superior ratings were the saxophone quartet, the clarinet quartet, the vocal ensemble, and Kaylee Besch for a vocal solo. The show choir received three “Excellent” ratings, too.
Cromwell Mayor Sharon Zelazny has accepted the Food Shelf Mayor Challenge. She has set out donation containers at Cromwell City Hall, Cromwell Municipal Liquor Store, Cromwell Medical Clinic and Cromwell Self-Serve. The challenge lasts until April 2. All food will go to the Tri-Community Food Shelf and will be distributed locally. It’s a great time to help with this worthy cause.
Lenten services at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wright will take place at 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays through April 5.

The Lutheran/Methodists churches will meet together at 6 p.m. for Lenten soup suppers on Wednesdays: March 22 at Bethany, March 29 at Bethlehem and April 5 at the Methodist church.
