Vikings win! Vikings win!

What a great ending to a really great game. Most folks figured the Vikings would have an easy win against the Saints on Sunday, Jan. 14, after the first half, but then the nail biting started and with only 10 seconds left, we were prepared for another disappointing loss, but that was not to be. So, I guess there really was a "Minnesota Miracle" on the 14th.

Our sympathy to the family of Dr. Kimberly Ruth Kalli, 55, who died of uterine cancer Jan. 8 at the Mayo Clinic Hospital-Methodist Campus. Kim was the sister of Keith Kalli of Wright, niece of Edie Houck and Marvin Aho, and the granddaughter of the late Toini and Leonard Aho and Karl and Ruth Kalli.

The Villa Vista/ Cardinal Court will be celebrating those residents who will be turning 90 and over during 2018 on Thursday, Jan. 25, at 1:30 p.m. All area residents are invited to help them celebrate these special birthdays. There are four residents who will be 100 or over: Ailie Costello, 103; Ellen Mikkola, 101; Signe Pitkanen, 102; and Helen Korpela, who will turn 100 on Oct. 8. What wonder they have seen in the past 100 years. Congratulations to the 2018 Cromwell-Wright homecoming court:

• Queen - Cassidy Anderson, Teana Hakamaki, Alyssa Hoff and Amber Lehti.

A volunteer is needed to take over as coordinator of the Historical Society in Cromwell. The Historical Society was started in 1999 and has collected a large amount of information from 1900-1950. We would hate to see all of that hard work not be continued. If interested, please contact Judy Koivisto at (218) 644-3752.

That's all the news from The edge of Wright and Cardinal Country. Let's hope we can all get over these colds and flu episodes and look forward to warmer weather. The cold weather sure has been holding on, but hopefully by the time you are reading this, it will be in the 30s or 40s.

Have a great week.
