To the Editor:
Three cheers to Cloquet VFW, Kiwanis, the Eagles Club and any other organizations that contributed fireworks money this year, ensuring that our fair town would once again be able to celebrate the 4th of July in style.
In the recent past, the Fond du Lac Reservation Business Committee kindly donated approximately $7,000 toward this spectacular event. Unfortunately, they were unable to do so for the '09 festivities, "citing in part the recent economic downturn." I would imagine the $30,000 or so that they spent having their own, private fireworks display this past Sunday, perhaps played a small part as well. But, no matter. Civic pride is a beautiful thing, and to the folks who made it happen - many thanks you guys!
