To the Editor:

So! The ISD94 School Board set the date for a referendum to build a new middle school. Feb. 10, 2015 - REALLY! Everyone I have talked to about this has the same reaction as me. The board seems intent on passing the referendum by making it as difficult as possible for people to vote. Not only is February the peak time for cold, snow, ice and dark, but half the senior population is in another part of the country.

What the board and school administration should be doing is convincing taxpayers that this referendum is a good use of their money. There are good reasons to build - convince us and encourage all to vote so that we don't end up with a situation like Duluth. Unhappy voters will remember and vote down future referendums. If nothing else, there will be an excess levy at some time.

Set a reasonable election date and give us the reasons to vote yes.
