Law enforcement officers from Duluth, Hermantown, Cloquet, Fond du Lac and the Carlton County Sheriff's Department rallied in the pre-dawn hours on Wednesday to travel to the funeral of slain police officer Tom Decker in Cold Spring, Minn. In all, 15 squad cars from the local area made the trip in honor of Decker, who was killed late last Thursday in what police say was an ambush near Winner's Bar in Cold Spring. Decker had reportedly responded to a report of a man who was possibly suicidal.
Held on suspicion of second-degree murder in the shooting was Ryan Larson, who was released Tuesday for lack of evidence. He remains a suspect in the case.
Decker leaves behind a wife and four children, ages 5, 6, 7 and 8. His funeral was expected to draw some 3,000 people.
