Letter: Wrenshall School Board petition is tearing the community apart

It makes one wonder what is the reason behind all of this as the appointment is only for slightly over a year on the board.

During an August Wrenshall School Board meeting, Bill Dian was legally appointed to fill an open position. His appointment started a chain of events that's tearing our community apart.

We are being torn apart, friend against friend, lies being told to get people to sign the petition to remove him. It takes only 5% of registered voters to remove him. That means 95% of those voters may have their vote nullified by 5%. One of the people spearheading the petition doesn't live in our district.

I have lived here for over 50 years. Six children graduated from Wrenshall and my wife and son served on the school board, so it saddens me to see what is happening in our community.

It makes one wonder what is the reason behind all of this as the appointment is only for slightly over a year on the board.

I ask again, how can 5% of voters null and void a man appointed legally by the school board, who were voted in to make decisions by a majority of voters?
