Jim and Bev Whorton, owners of the tree farm, stress that even though Chub Lake Tree Farm is the local site for this activity, success over the years has been possible only because of many donors and volunteers from throughout the region.
The charitable arms of military service organizations such as DAV 18 and Auxiliary, Bayport American Legion Auxiliary 491, VFW Post 3979 and VFW Post 2962 and Auxiliary, have been a vital part of this event.
Members of the Cloquet National Guard unit have consistently volunteered their service by tagging and loading the trees on the FedEx trailer. Their presence during the Trees for Troops Weekend has created understanding as to what the event is all about.
Last but not least, the generosity of customers, friends, family and other northern Minnesota tree growers has not gone unnoticed.
Whortons thank all of the above for helping to make this event a success for 11 years and wish all a blessed and Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year.
