After all the worries about not having the funds for this year's 4th of July fireworks, I think the celebration was a success. I would like to thank the Cloquet Kiwanis for coming through with their donation and the Cloquet VFW. I would also like to thank the Cloquet Eagles Club. I personally didn't realize that they were still around. After speaking with them and many of the loyal members of the Club, they really work by their motto of 'People helping People.'
I would also like to thank the Pine Journal, WKLK Radio and Northland News Center for getting the word out that I needed help from the community.
Music in the park was a huge success this year with the Shackshakers, Saint Anyway, Red Star Project and Shadows of Me. Everyone sounded wonderful.
What a crowd that gathered for the Twin Ports Outdoor Movie of "Alvin and the Chipmunks." I don't think I've seen so many people in Veterans Park before. The screen was great and the timing was perfect as the movie ended, the fireworks began.
A special thank you to volunteers Jim Nelson and John Badger for all the time you gave to the celebration and to everyone who volunteered to help with the Big Day Cloquet Race.
WOW, kids-did you have fun during the Dash for Cash? Thanks to donors, we were able to dump over $525 in the sawdust between quarters and toys. The sawdust was just a flying!
Thank you local businesses for your cash donations and to my family and friends who worked with me making posters, hanging banners, printing car signs and decorating the park. You don't know how much I appreciated your help.
