What a beautiful autumn we enjoyed! Splendid colors and great weather for getting outdoors.

It was great to see the parks, trails and other outdoor areas remain busy as community members enjoy our great scenery. We even had a bonus week of summer weather after an early winter teaser.

As always, Community Education encourages folks to stay active and stay well. While there will be no indoor walking at Washington Elementary School this year, we will hope the ground stays clear for many more weeks so we can all walk and move safely about on the sidewalks and trails. The hockey arena at Pine Valley will be open for walking Monday through Friday. The hours vary, but generally they are open from 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Other options to stay active include lap swim and senior swim at the middle school pool. Karate and ice skating classes are available for children, and we continue to offer karate, PiYo and yoga.

This year has been one of expanding boundaries, and Cloquet Community Education has been trying new and different ideas. We have offered several classes online with participants reporting that they enjoyed the new format. This is a great time to set up the laptop and try a class online! Perhaps this will be the new normal, and we will continue to see online offerings into the future!

Of course, we all enjoy meeting in person, and we look forward to the day we can return to a more normal format. Be sure to check out our webpage, www.CloquetCommunityEd.com , and our Facebook page.

The Cloquet Schools are switching to a full distance learning format as COVID-19 numbers in the county are extremely high. The Community Education office in the middle school will continue to keep its office hours of Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Until we meet again, be well and be active!
