Spring is in the air and so are numerous opportunities to get involved with your local Community Education programs!

In Carlton we are gearing up for our most popular classes of the year: our Container Gardening classes that are held at The Green House in Carlton.

Each year, we team up with The Green House to provide this awesome class to those who attend! Think of it as a way to jump-start your garden.

You’re welcome to bring your own deck containers or purchase them at the class. Green House staff members present you with planting ideas and tips, and they share what is hot and new in the world of flowers, plants and gardening. You are then able to shop the Green House, choose your flowers and plant them.

The best part is the containers are left for Green House staff to tend to and care for. Containers must be picked up by May 15. This allows your planters a few weeks of growing time in a warm environment, producing beautiful pots for your yard and deck well before you would normally be able to do so.

There are eight different class sessions the week of April 20, but they do fill up so register soon! Contact Carlton Community Education if you are interested.

Other upcoming classes include new sessions of yoga classes held on Sunday and Thursday evenings; an Instant Pot Class that is all about decadent desserts; and some unique, fun art classes held at The Lumberjack and the Gypsy Shop.

Spring in Community Education also means planning for the upcoming summer programming, as well as preparing for our preschool classes that will begin in the fall. Our Bulldog Kids Care program operates throughout the school year, as well as the summer months. The program is open to all children, ages 33 months through 5th grade and is not limited to Carlton students. Would you like more information? E-mail bulldog.kids.care@carlton.k12.mn.us .

You are invited and encouraged to come to our Carlton School Readiness Registration Night on Thursday, April 2 from 6-7 p.m. at South Terrace Elementary School if you are interested in learning more about our preschool program. We offer an all-day option for 4-year olds and half-day options for both 3- and 4-year olds. Contact Megan McLain at mmclain@carlton.k12.mn.us for more information.
