Below are just a few of the fun upcoming classes we are offering here in Barnum. You can be a resident from anywhere to attend Community Education classes. I look forward to meeting you all!
DayTrippers Spring Musical Dinner Theatre “The Bikini’s”: You’ll laugh, you’ll cry ... you’ll do the limbo! Reliving their heyday from the summer of ’64, these four inseparable friends, who won the Belmar Beach Talent Contest wearing just their bikinis, offer a nonstop celebration of song from their early days through the next two decades. Come ride the LCS Coach bus to Bloomington and enjoy dinner and a show! Thursday, March 12, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., cost is $90. Pick up locations in Barnum, Moose Lake and Willow River. Deadline to register is Wednesday, Feb. 26.
New Year, New You: This is a four-week lifestyle class where you can lose weight, get healthier, gain knowledge and have fun! There will be recipes, handouts, fitness tips, sleep tips and so much more. The classes will be held on March 4, March 11, March 18 and March 25 from 6-7 p.m. in the Barnum High School Media Center. Cost is $55.
The Happy Painter: Join Heidi the Happy Painter for a wood canvas painting of a buffalo plaid Minnesota. Come enjoy a chai or coffee, relax, laugh and have a fantastic time painting. Tuesday, Jan. 21 from 5-7:30 p.m. at Chickadees Coffeehouse and Deli in Barnum. Cost is $35.

American Girl Book Club: Second- through sixth-graders can enjoy a chapter or two of the book, “Aloha Kanani,” a snack and an American Girl-themed project on Kanani. The events will be held on Feb. 5, Feb. 12, Feb. 19 and Feb. 26 from 3-4:30 p.m. in the Barnum Elementary ECFE room. Cost is $24. Deadline is Wednesday, Jan. 29.
ECFE Mixed Ages: Parent-child, parent education and early childhood education time will be held for children from 1-year-old to kindergarten on Fridays from Jan. 10 through May 15 from 8:30-10 a.m. in the Barnum Elementary ECFE room. Fees are based on a sliding scale.
ECFE Friends, Family and Neighbors Education: Do you watch your grandchildren or a neighbor's children? Come to Friends, Family and Neighbors for play and learn time with the children you are watching. There is also time for adults to socialize and learn new activities. The sessions take place on Fridays from Jan. 10 through March 6 from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Barnum Elementary ECFE room.
