I hope this article finds you well and seeing many positives among the uncertainty of the current times.

I am finding that I have to be much more creative in my job, trying to keep Community Education moving forward in a positive, impactful direction.

Normally, we would be coming upon some of our most exciting classes and events through our program. Unfortunately, we are left to cancel most, or as I mentioned earlier, become more creative.

Our most popular class, Container Gardens, offered in partnership with The Green House in Carlton, should have been running this week, but sadly had to be canceled. That is eight separate classes held within six days with nearly 200 class participants that couldn’t happen. However, The Green House owners have offered to plant your container garden for you if you drop your containers off. They are also offering very small sections of a plant-your-own container class. Please call them for more information at 218-384-4732.

We also have had to cancel a traditional favorite we provide with Wrenshall Community Education, the Father Daughter Ball. Our Transportation Night, which is typically held the beginning of May, had to be called off too.

While the cancellations make tough times seem a little harder, I can’t help but think how awesome it will be to bring all of these classes and events back next year! I know I will be even more thankful and excited when planning and providing these to our community!

And in closing, a few friendly reminders: Our preschool program is currently accepting enrollment for the 2020-21 school year. We offer an all-day option for 4-year-olds, and a half-day options for both 3- and 4-year-olds. Contact Megan McLain at mmclain@carlton.k12.mn.us for more information.

Like our Carlton Community Education page on Facebook, find information on our webpage found through the Carlton School District website or I always welcome phone calls and e-mails at 218-384-4225 x213 or drose@carlton.k12.mn.us .

Take care and be well, may we all come out stronger and improved once this time is behind us!
