Greetings from Carlton Community Education!
It is hard to believe the end of the school year is just about to wrap up and summer break is just a few weeks away. Our programming for the summer is in full planning mode and it is exciting to be offering more opportunities this year.
2 STEM camps scheduled
This summer, we will be bringing back our usual camps and even adding one more. On June 21-24, will be bringing back our STEM Camp for students just finishing grades 2-5. This camp will be filled with everything science, technology, engineering and math. Each day will be jam-packed with hands-on activities including coding, robotics, science experiments and creative building challenges.
The week prior to this camp, June 15-16, we are offering a new camp for younger students, those just finishing K-2, called STEM Camp Jr. It is very similar to our usual STEM Camp, but will be only two days and will have less-intense STEM activities. Students just finishing second grade have the opportunity to participate in both camps.
Summer camp focuses on flight
Later in the summer, we will be bringing back our long-standing tradition of offering our Summer Learning Camp: "Adventures for Your Brain." This camp has a different theme each year, with this year being centered around space and flight. Learning Camp will be held Tuesday, Aug. 3, through Friday, Aug. 6.

This four-day camp will engage students’ minds through fun hands-on projects and games, giving them a head-start on the school year. Design spectacular paper airplanes; experience what it's like to be an astronaut; create your own constellations; and more!
Fire department visits preschoolers
There are a couple recent highlights to cover that have occurred within our program. On Friday, April 30, our Transitions preschool class had a visit from our local fire department. They brought an ambulance and the big ladder fire truck for the kids. The preschool classes had been discussing Community Helpers throughout the month and this was the perfect way to end it. Thank you to Carlton Fire and Ambulance for taking the time to share your awesomeness with our students. It was a huge hit with all of them!
Choir performs concert

The other highlight definitely worth mentioning was Sunday, May 2. The Carlton Middle School-High School Choir performed a concert for family and friends. This choir is sponsored through Community Education and our Bulldog Options programming.
Sheri Herman, the director, is very passionate and dedicated and it showed, the concert they provided was amazing! We hope to have a link out for people soon with the recording of the concert in its entirety. If you have the chance you should watch, it is a must-see!
