What a whirlwind this past month has been! Barnum Schools resumed in-person learning Jan. 19, which means Community Ed programs and classes resumed as well!
Yoga will start Wednesdays beginning Feb. 3. Suzy will be offering a Yoga Stretch and a Yoga Fit class. This session will be held in the high school media center. Yoga Stretch will be from 5:30-6:15 p.m. and Yoga Fit from 6:30-7 p.m. The cost is $60 for 1 class or $110 for both classes.
Tech & Coffee will be held the first Thursday of each month starting Feb. 4. We meet at Chickadee Coffeehouse and Deli from 9-11 a.m., to help you learn how to use your electronics or ask us questions. We aren’t qualified tech support, but we can help you with your questions or send you in the right direction! There is no cost to attend.
Board Painting: Make a one of a kind 18x11 or 24x6 board with your favorite quote or design. We have three upcoming classes scheduled: Feb. 16 and April 13 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Mahtowa Covenant Church, and March 16 at Chickadee Coffeehouse and Deli from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The cost is $35.
Grab & Go Bins include a "Frozen" movie marathon, winter fun, jewelry stamping, DIY jewelry for kids, acrylic pouring art and family game night. Bins can be borrowed for the weekend for $15. Each bin includes all the materials needed for a fun family weekend for all ages.
Welcome Signs: This grab and go project comes with all the supplies needed to create a welcome sign for your porch (board, vinyl stencil, paint, sponge, vinyl removal tool). Each board is slightly different. The cost is $50.
Bomber Club: Our school age care program has been open through all these changes. Kudos to our amazing staff for supporting our students and parents though distance learning. We are grateful and excited for students to return to in-person learning! At this time, we are full and not accepting new families.
Early Childhood: Our ECFE will return to meet in person on Friday, Jan. 22. ECFE is from 8:30-10 a.m. on Friday mornings. ECFE includes parent/child time, circle time, snack and play time. Parents also attend a parent meeting while the kids stay in the classroom with our teachers for more fun. They also offer monthly family nights. Call our ECFE staff at 218-389-3001 to register.
School readiness: All of our school readiness classes resumed with in-person learning on Jan. 19. Our staff have been working hard keeping distance learning going strong for our youngest learners! They sent packets full of fun learning activities for the kids and their families to work on at home, along with offering online support and videos of their weekly stories.
Snowshoe Trail: Our AGE to age grant and Community Ed have been working on a 1-mile snowshoe loop in the school forest. Right now the trail is packed down. Signs will be made soon and hung soon to mark the trail. We strongly encourage community members to NOT to ride snowmobiles on the snowshoe trail. This spring, we will have a story walk system set up on this trail to continue the trail usage year round! Keep up-to-date on our trail by following our Community Ed page on Facebook.
