Greetings from Carlton Community Education!
Fall (or maybe winter) is here! In a “normal” year we would be busy planning fall events such as the Mother Son Gala and the Community Halloween Party. Classes would be in full swing with many options rolling out, but that is not the case this year.
Instead, it is planning virtual Halloween Costume contests, classroom scarecrow competitions and trying different ways to offer just a few classes that allow for the proper safety of people attending. It all looks different, but it definitely feels good to be back offering unique ways to connect with the community that also allows for members of the community to reunite a little as well!
We are offering our first Zoom community education class in December! Class registrants will be making handmade Christmas cards with an instructor in this virtual format. Most materials needed will be compiled in a class packet that will be picked up prior to the class date, and the evening of class everyone will connect and be instructed step-by-step on how to create beautiful cards to share with their loved ones!
There will also be two different painting classes offered with Robyn Belsvik leading up to the Christmas season, and to add a fun twist these classes will be held at The Green House in Carlton! Carlton Community Education is always so appreciative of the partnership that the owners of The Green House provide to our program. It is our hope that we can continue to offer a variety of classes in a way that allows everyone the opportunity to participate, whether it be safely in person or in different virtual formats.
Lastly, Halloween is already next week — even the year 2020 seems to be flying by, all things considered! The afternoon of Oct 31 from 1-3 p.m. businesses and organizations will be set up down the main streets of Carlton offering a trick-or-treat event for all families. There will also be scarecrows to check out and vote on as well! This event is being brought to you by the Carlton Chamber of Commerce and its members. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
