Richard A. Tougas

Richard A. Tougas, age 76, of Perham, MN, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2020 in his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Richard was born in Cloquet, MN on August 16, 1943 to Ramey and Amy (Branum) Tougas. Following high school, he moved to the Twin Cities area. He married Beverly Carlson on April 10, 1965. Together, they raised their two children, Michael and Anita. After 31 years with the City of New Hope Public Works, he retired, and together they moved to their lake home in Perham.

An avid sportsman, skier, and aviator, he never missed a chance to impart his love for the outdoors to those around him, especially his grandkids. In his later years, he could be found in his shop woodworking or at the dining room table asking for another round of cribbage; hopefully God knows how to play.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Arvid Tougas, and foster daughter Deanna. Richard is survived by his wife, Bev Tougas of Perham, son Michael (Chantal) Tougas of Perham, daughter Anita (Steve) Gust of Crookston, MN, grandchildren Trenton Lizakowski, Jaeden Lizakowski, and Tommy Gust, brother Tim (Katie) Tougas, sisters Bea Gunderson and Barb Smith, sister-in-law Marilyn Tretsven, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
