Philip Bernell Kindgren
Philip Bernell Kindgren, age 84, of Bloomington, Minnesota passed away on February 19, 2021.
Philip was born and baptized on October 13, 1936 to Reverend Roy and Gerda Kindgren in Cloquet, Minnesota. The family lived in Palisade, MN and Hershey, NE before moving to East Union/Carver, MN in 1944. Phil attended Jr. High School in Chaska. The family moved to Kandiyohi, MN. Phil graduated from Willmar High School in 1958.
Phil spent four years in the Army Security Agency in Asmara, Eritrea Africa. After discharge he worked at Northern Pump Ordinance/FMC for many years. In his retirement, Phil enjoyed traveling to New Mexico during Minnesota’s cold winter months. He returned for the rest of the year to the cottage in Mahtowa, MN. Phil was a caring uncle, interested in the lives of his family members. He also enjoyed time spent with his many cousins! In his last years, Phil lived in Cloquet, MN and worshipped at Zion Lutheran Church. He had recently moved to Presbyterian Homes in Bloomington, MN.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Marjorie Blanchard, and her son, Daniel Nelson.
Philip is survived by loved stepsons, Mark and John Hiiva; brother, Charles (Deanne); nieces, Debra Doud, Diane (Doug) Campbell, Rebecca (Robert) Thibodo, Kayla (Scott) Richmond; nephew, Erik (Cassie) Kindgren; and many other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Sunday August 22, 2021 at East Union Lutheran Church, 15180 County RD 40 Carver, MN.
