James (Jim) Arthur Osen, 75, passed away from natural causes on April 20, 2021 at his home in Bozeman, MT. He was born in Cloquet, MN on May 8, 1945 to Ingvald and Huldah (Swanson) Osen. He grew up on 14th Street (across from the Athletic Park), graduated from Cloquet High School in 1963, and enlisted in the US Navy. His military service was a lifetime point of pride and he became active in the American Legion and Honor Guard later in life.

Upon discharge, he started his career in the timber industry, where he quickly found success in sales. He spent time in Minneapolis, MN and Sandpoint, ID, before settling in Bozeman in 1976. He enjoyed his job selling utility poles across a multi-state region, getting to know his customers very well. During this time, he became a member of the Elks Club (48 years), the American Legion (44 years), and the Eagles (43 years). He returned to Cloquet for several weeks every summer during his working years to visit family and friends.

Jim had a lifelong passion for singing and sports. He spent over 30 years as a member of the Chord Rustlers barbershop chorus, was active in softball and bowling leagues, played golf, and was a fixture at his kids’ and later grandkids’ events. He remained a loyal Vikings and Twins fan.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Norman Osen; and stepson, Tony Hull. He is survived by his children, Karine (Eric) Gorski of Lacey, WA and Brad (Rachel) Osen of Bozeman, MT; grandchildren, Olivia, Jacob, and Elsa; brother, Richard (Judie) Osen; sister-in-law, Kay Osen; niece, Debbie Lintner; and nephews, Chris, Rick, and Kevin Osen.

Funeral services were held at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service in Bozeman on April 28 and Jim was laid to rest in the Veterans section of Sunset Hills Cemetery with Military Honors by the Bozeman American Legion Post #14 Honor Guard.
