Donald Franklin Spoor

Donald Franklin Spoor, age 93, of Cloquet died peacefully April 23, 2020 at home in the loving presence of his family in Edina, MN. He was born December 21, 1926 in Cloquet to Eldon and Willa (Hendrix) Spoor. He graduated from Cloquet High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, in the South Pacific. He was employed by Northwest Paper Company and then Potlach for over 44 years. He was a member of Potlach Quarter Century Club, National Association of Purchasing Management, Investment Recovery Association, Presbyterian Church, and was a charter member of Big Lake Golf Club. He will be remembered for his immense love for and dedication to his family, strength of character, patriotism, passion for sailing - on both open ocean waters and Big Lake, and affable sense of humor. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his father and his mother, brothers Vincent and James, and sister Genevieve Gebault. Donald is survived by the love of his life - his wife of 73 years Alyce (De Lovely) Spoor, beloved daughter Janet Cherubini of Edina and granddaughter Francesca Cherubini Czuppa (Michael Czuppa), great-grand children Sebastian, Isabella, and Eloise, and many nieces and nephews. Inurment in Maple Grove Cemetery - Cloquet. Memorials may be made to the MS Society, American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
