Donald Erling Hansen

Donald Erling Hansen, 82 of Cromwell died Sunday, March 8, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Don had a tragic fall on the ice that took him from us while on his way to ice fish. He was born on April 11, 1937 in Northfield to Haakon and Sadie (VonWald) Hansen. He attended Valley Grove Country School and graduated from Faribault Senior High. Donald also served in the National Guard.

At an early age, Don had many interests that included trapping, he loved fishing in summer and winter, the challenges of playing pool, golfing, working in the woods, anything to do with outdoors and of course building. He started his cabinet making in a shed that was on his family’s beloved farm in Valley Grove. He was a master craftsman who founded Nerstrand Woodcraft. Don was a gentle man with a forgiving heart.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Shelley; and brother, Harold.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie K. (Johnson); three daughters, Kimberly (Scott) Trebelhorn, Heidi (Dan) Jenkins, Heather (Mason) Strouth; sister, Audrey Hansen; and sister in law, Juanita Hansen; nine grandchildren; six great grandsons; and the newest arrival of a great granddaughter; and his best buddy, Tucker.

Visitation: 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 Celebration of Life, Friday March 13, 2020 in the Atkins-Northland Funeral Home 801 14th Street, Cloquet.
