Borghild “Borgie” Kittel
Borghild “Borgie” Sophie Kittel, age 92, resident of Barnum, went to her Heavenly Home on Saturday, December 7th, 2019. She was born in Duluth to Hugo and Anna (Lonngren) Collander on October 26th, 1927.
Borgie was raised in Duluth, graduating from Denfeld High School in 1947. She worked as a nurse’s aid at St. Mary’s Hospital from 1949 – 1961. On June 3rd, 1961, she married the love of her life, Eldon Kittel in Proctor. They moved to Clear Creek Township where they farmed together and Borgie became a homemaker. She spent 40 years working as the Fire Warden in that area for the State of Minnesota. Borgie was a member of the Oak Lake Lutheran Church and was also the Sunshine Chairman where she devoted countless hours to sending cards and announcements for all sorts of occasions to every single parish member. She was notorious for cooking homestyle meals and putting together elaborate jigsaw puzzles. She was a true “Mom”, worrying and caring about everybody and everything. She was a woman strong in her faith whom loved God, and she will be missed dearly.
Borgie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eldon in 2006; parents, Hugo and Anna; brothers, Alvin Collander and Alf Collander; and sisters, Bernhild Schinn, Swanhild Pearson, Alfhild Berglund, and Magnhild Skog.
She is survived by her children, Robert Kittel and Thomas (Colleen) Kittel; grandchildren, Rachel, Jared, and Delaney Kittel; brother-in-law, Clayton Kittel; and numerous nieces, nephews, and church family members.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 13th, 2019 from 10am until the 11am memorial service in Oak Lake Lutheran Church, Kerrick. Pastor Nathan Anderson will officiate. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date in Nickerson Community Cemetery. Arrangements are with Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home.
