Albert Cassandro

Albert “Al” Leonard Cassandro, age 61, a resident of Cloquet, Minnesota passed away peacefully after a long struggle with cancer on April 30, 2021 at Essentia Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota. He was born on July 1, 1959 in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada to Angelo and Bortola Cassandro, the 5th child of nine children. Albert spent his youth in Sudbury, then in 1990 moved to pursue work in Thunder Bay, Ontario where he met Clare Balow (Mills), they married in 1991and had three much-loved children, Christopher Emerson, Kaela Marie, and Jessica Elise. Albert immigrated to the USA and remained there until his death. His passion was mechanics beginning at a very early age, always taking apart motors and figuring out how to repair or recycle for other purposes. He shared this knowledge continually helping anyone who asked. Albert also had a part of his home turned into a bird sanctuary, he had as many as 20 birds which he attended to daily deriving much pleasure from their song and behaviors. Albert was also very intrigued and fascinated by the legal system and rarely missed an episode of Judge Judy, he loved to delve into all related legal and court proceedings. He had a love of electronics, building a drone as his latest hobby. He was an entrepreneur, building up his own business ‘Mechanic in Motion.” Albert leaves behind a legacy of being jovial, easy going, but determined individual who wanted to share his love with all his family and friends.

Albert is survived by his children, Christopher (Allison), Kaela, and Jessica; friend and the Mother to his children, Clare Balow (Mills); his siblings, Roger Cassandro (Sandy), Mary Hamel (John), Giuliano Cassandro, Carla Kooistra (Rick), Rita Lebreux (Roger), Ronny Cassandro, Angelina Woodcock (Brent), and Angelo Cassandro. He was predeceased by his parents, Angelo and Bortola Cassandro (nee Piazza); Giuliano’s wife, Janet (Nee Bird) and Francis “Connie” Mills, Maternal Grandmother.
