Janet Wieber Mathers
Janet Louise Wieber Mathers passed away peacefully on May 18, 2019, in her apartment in Broomfield, Colorado. Janet was born June 25, 1926, near Kingston, NY, the only child of Erma and Henry Wieber. After studying at Skidmore and working for ATT, she married Lloyd Douglas Mathers, also of Kingston, in 1952 and moved first to Virginia, MN, and then to Cloquet, MN. While raising a family in the new neighborhood of Sunnyside, she worked part-time as a secretary and bookkeeper at Doug Mathers Ford (later Duffy-Mathers Ford) and was active in PEO, Friday Club, Candy Stripers (as coordinator), the Hospital Auxiliary, and the Presbyterian Church. Bridge, both duplicate and contract, was a particular passion, as was travel. She loved her many friends back in Kingston, in the Cloquet area, later in Arizona, and finally in Colorado. Janet was predeceased by her son Paul in 2003 and by her daughter Nancy in 2018. Her oldest son David J Mathers lives and teaches in Chicago. Funeral arrangements were handled by Heritage Funeral Services in CO. No services are planned at this time. Memorial contributions in Cloquet may be made to the CCMH Foundation, in Kingston to the Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
